Thread Lifts Q&A

What is a thread lift?

A thread lift is a nonsurgical treatment that offers results comparable to a traditional surgical facelift. Rather than surgically lifting your skin, a thread lift uses dissolvable threads to revitalize the appearance of wrinkled, saggy skin.

This non-surgical facelift may be right for you if you have:

  • Sagging jowls
  • Deep nasolabial folds
  • A double chin

Thread lifts are an ideal alternative for a surgical midface lift.

How does a thread lift work?

During a thread lift, your Alure Wellness provider uses an anesthetic to numb your skin and minimize any pain or discomfort from the treatment. Next, they insert absorbable sutures into your skin to lift and tighten it.

There are two types of sutures to choose from: barbed and smooth. While barbed sutures lift your skin and promote soft tissue approximation — which makes your soft tissue firmer and bouncier — smooth sutures stimulate collagen synthesis.

The entire procedure takes about one hour, and the effects begin working almost right away. Over the coming months, the threads naturally dissolve while your skin stays in place, so you don’t need to return to Alure Wellness for removal.

What happens after a thread lift?

A thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure that leaves virtually no scarring, so you can resume most of your normal activities after treatment. While there’s very little downtime involved in a thread lift, you should avoid exercising for a few weeks to ensure you heal properly without complications.

Bruising and swelling are normal side effects of the MINT PDO thread lift, but they should subside within a few days.

How long does it take to see results from a thread lift?

You should see moderate results from your thread lift right away. As your body begins producing new collagen and elastin, the lifting and tightening effects of your thread lift start to become noticeable; however, these results are most noticeable after about three months. Many people continue to notice improvements in the tone and elasticity for up to 18 months after treatment.

If you’re not ready or interested in a surgical facelift, the thread lift can help you achieve visible results without invasive surgery or temporary injections. To schedule an appointment with Alure Wellness, call the office or book online today.
